Quickly Before More Time Goes By!
Where did March and April go?
Seriously… February took its sweet time dragging along, than March came in. Threw some more snow on us and April ended in the blink of an eye. It’s May 30th and while I’ve been slammed with orders and experiments I have yet to sit down and actually write about anything.
So here I sit, on my couch trying to recount everything I’ve had a chance to bake over the past 8 weeks and kicking myself for not taking photos. I am the worst at taking photos, I am the worst at remembering to take photos. You would never know that my Dad was a professional photographer for most of my life… (Sorry Dad)
I’ve written a few drafts (that’s right, this is me actually trying, sorry it’s not better) for this entry trying to cram what I was able to accomplish into one post and it makes for a long read. Like un-enjoyably long, so I’ve decided to condense down what I’ve done so far and I’ll try to do better from here on out. After all June is a new month.
March consisted of:
Blueberry Ice Cream
Ice Cream Cake (And yeah that used a separate batch of blueberry ice cream)
Maple Caramelized Bacon Brownies
Jambalaya… Technically not a dessert.. Okay not technically but I had done a few rounds of the Blueberry Ice Cream for an order and gone away for a week towards the end of month to New Orleans where we attended a cooking demonstration and learned how to make Jambalaya. So I had to make it when I came home. (More on the amazing adventure filled with Beignets and Pralines later!)
April:
Elsa and Anna Dress Cookies (Using royal icing and every ounce of patience I could muster)
Caramel Corn
Franken Pie (This was a Key Lime and Blueberry Pie that I just made again recently and went over like Gangbusters! I’m bringing Gangbusters back!)
3 Tier cake shaped and stacked to look like books for a baby shower
May:
Red Velvet Cookies with White Chocolate Chips (From Scratch)
Pistachio Cupcakes
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie (apparently this is a pretty common pie but I’d never had it or made it before)
Blueberry Butter Cream (I put this on top of Lemon Cupcakes and it was kind of amazing…)
Most of these were for orders that came up, and a lot of them I had never made before. I was really excited to do a few of them and dreaded some of them (mostly because I was afraid I would fail and I did on a few of the trials).
I’m hoping with less scheduled orders going this month I’ll be able to focus more on actually writing down what I’m doing as I’m doing it. Maybe take you through the process of some of the antics that I find myself in some days.
I’ll keep ya’ll posted on what June brings!
